The pages of Nigerian newspapers was awashed this morning with the news that President Olusegun Obasanjo's convoy was pelted with stones and sachet-water bags by "anti-3rd term" protesters in Jigawa, during his State visit to commission a borehole at an army barrack.
Now as I am working my key-board, the popular chorus of the churches began to hum in my ears...
"Alagbara l'Olorunmi
Alagbara ni Jesu miiii..."
In the same rhyme this song flowed into another one, being sang, not in our churches, but on the barricades, an Aluta song, hear:
"Obasanjo l'o sora ooo.
Baba Iyabo be careful ooo..."
The bell tolls for those who want to scheme Nigerians into a situation of an 'Omnipotent' and 'Omniscient' Presidency as we march towards 2007.
The presidential spokesperson, Mrs. Oluremi Oyo denied the "embarrassing" reports. But the local and international Press, led by French AFP, confirmed and reported the truth.
Let us intensify our prayers that God, at this critical junction in our nation's democracy, would give the President a hearing ear for the TRUTH, and nothing but the TRUTH.
